This is an open letter of thanks to everyone who came down or helped to spread the word about the 2nd Annual She’s My DJ! Female Turntablist Competition and making it such a great event this past Tuesday, November 7th.We had a full house, some new and old djanes rocking the turntables and the networking was bananas.
The Vibe.com interviewing Lady D Wells from 98.7 Kiss FM and getting the real low-down on being a female dj in this industry; ‘Uncle Ralph’ McDaniels’ new online show, OnFumes.com sitting down with Jazzy Joyce & DJ Scratch from EPMD and reminiscing on Hip-Hop as a new entity back in the 80’s & 90’s and what it has evolved to be in the new millennium; The Wonder Twinz talking to DJ’s about the Connex List and their record pool; All the while DJ Chela, DJ Mo Luv, DJ Sparkles and DJ Dapper Don were preparing to compete for the 1st place slot.Our 2005 champion, DJ Sparkles, reigned supreme and secured her 1st place title but not easily from DJ Chela who was a very, very close 2nd Place winner. DJ Mo Luv snatched 3rd place and I think most importantly, female turntablism won! As Lazy K (Murda Mami, Best Female mixtape DJ 2003) attests, “This is amazing! We’re coming back!” Thanks for being on our advisory board this year Lazy!
